Yoga = Union
Yoga literally means "to yoke", or "unite", in the Sanskrit language. On the mat we are uniting our mind, body and spirit. Off the mat, at Pure Freedom Yoga we believe in living in nature and harmony with each other, and with our Earth. The root of all conflicts and wars, however small or large, is fear. There is fear of failure, being wrong, losing our loved ones and our livelihoods, losing control of our belongings --- the list goes on. Fear leads to conflict and war, whether it be internal or external. When we set aside our fears, we discover that we are one and the same. We desire love, peace and harmony.
Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.
- Rumi (13th century Persian poet)
If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
- Mother Theresa
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
- St. Francis of Assisi
Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.
We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.
- Dalai Lama XIV
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
- Jesus Christ
